The all-wheel drive 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is all about keeping the grip on the road no matter what weather conditions you encounter. The 991 variant of the all-wheel drive car has some styling changes over the rear-wheel drive Carrera. The styling changes include wider rear fenders and a red light strip that flows between the tail lights.… Read more
This video contains vintage footage of Edd China driving a Porsche 911 Targa on a race track. The video is from an early episode of Wheeler Dealers and the short clip features Edd testing out the 911 that was fixed up on the show. The dark green Targa has the 2.7-liter engine (yes, that is the 2.7-liter engine that has known issues, but most on the road today have had the problems sorted out).… Read more
If you follow me on twitter (@DavidHurth) then you probably know that besides writing on this blog, I also write on a popular blog named TopSpeed. Today over at that blog I wrote an article about the 911 SpeedRoad by DeLaVilla. The SpeedRoad takes a standard Porsche 911 (991) Cabriolet and gives it a Speedster look.
Of course the Speedster name became legendary on the 356 and was later put on special editions of the 911.… Read more
Not that long ago I posted a video of Tiff Needell testing the Jaugar F-Type against the Porsche 911 Cabriolet on a track. In that test the 911 walked away with the win. So, at least on the track the Porshce is the better performing car.
Well, Autocar has decided to do the same comparison, although on a public roads instead of on the track.… Read more
The Nissan 370Z owes its roots to the Datsun 240Z. In its day the Datsun 240Z was a fantastic sports car that really started the whole Japanese sports car craze in the United States. However, a 40 year old car can’t really keep up with all the technology in a new Nissan 370Z.
This video doesn’t pit two stock cars against each other.… Read more
The Porsche 911 has long been the measure by which other sports cars are measured. In spite of its rear-engine layout, the 911 offers great performance and handling to match. Plus with the engine hanging out back you get loads of traction.
The newest 991 variant has continued to up the performance level for Porsche. So when evo decided to test the performance of the new Jaguar V6S F-Type they decided to test it against a Porsche 911 Cabriolet.… Read more
The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 made its debut at the New York International Auto Show. The debut came as a surprise to many in the automotive world that were just expecting for the new Camaro SS to make its debut. The Z/28 has lost a lot of weight compared to the SS model and with 500 horsepower on tap it should be scary fast on the track.… Read more
Most automotive enthusiasts would give their right arm to be able to drive the Ferrari F12 Berlineta, Lamborghini Aventador and Aston Martin Vanquish on some great winding roads.
All three cars are great on their own with the Aston being very fast, yet quite refined when just cruising down the road. The Lamborghini is a more focused car that can drive very quickly in a straight line, but is still civil in the corners.… Read more
For a while the Ferrari FF was actually the most powerful car that you could purchase from Ferrari. Of course not now that the Ferrari F12Berlineta is being delivered to the first purchasers and once the Ferrari LaFerrari is out it will blow them both away. But the “Ugly Duckling” Ferrari FF, while having controversial styling, is surprisingly quite a good performing sports car.… Read more
Chris Harris enjoys both Ferraris and Porsches. Chris currently owns a Ferrari 599 which he purchased after selling his Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and he partly purchased the Ferrari because of how much he missed driving Ferraris (in case you weren’t aware Chris is on the Ferrari black list for receiving Ferrari press cars). Chris often enjoys driving Ferraris and Porsches and seems to go back and forth between the two makes (and who couldn’t blame him as both companies make some really good cars).… Read more
